Not fair
I was out at the shop today (big dogs go to the shop) and was running with my pal Seamus. I was really cookin', but he still kept ahead of me. Duh, he is about 5 times my size. There should be points for trying. (I still think I won.)

Momma's in Vienna. Now, I know about Vienna, but I have no idea how Momma can be in a little can of sausages. They sure are yummy though, so I can see why she would want to be there.
The Headmaster and the Professor went on something called an MS ride today and then took all of the dogs out to the shop. I had a great time chasing Seamus around, even though he is big and kind of a klutz and runs into me a lot. I've learned to roll when I hit the ground and get up without missing a step.
I've also learned how to jump int the truck - the front, not the back. It's awfully high compared to Momma's Mazda, and I can't see where I am jumping, so it was a bit scary. I learned that if you jump to the floor and then to the seat it's easier and not as scary.
It's been a busy afternoon - time for a bit of a nap before dinner.

Broccoli
Who knew. We went out to the land today in a downpour to feed the chickens and take care of the few remaining greenhouse plants. I had a great time running in the rain with Seamus and Ryeleigh, got my ration of dog treats and jumped in the truck for the ride home. Then it happened.
The Headmaster had cut some shoots from the broccoli plants on the back porch - they are about done too, so is was time to cut them back. He put them in a box and put the box on the seat with me. Well, what does a dog do when something ii in range? He eats it, of course. I grabbed a piece of broccoli and chowed down. IT WAS GREAT, no matter what George H.W. Bush says. I went back several times and ate about half of the broccoli we had. Better than dog treats.
I may become a vegetarian (whatever that is).

Sit, stay, beg
Thats what we are working on now. Don't tell the Headmaster, but I already know sit and stay is just a long sit. Beg is a little weird and I think I might pretend that I don't understand even after I do. Who wants to beg?

Face Time
We called Momma and Dori today using Face Time (kind of like Skype, but Mac to Mac). It's almost like being there in person. I'll make the Headmaster post pictures next time.

End of Week 1
Here is is the end of the first week of Fall term at the Academy and it hasn't been too bad - so far. I've gotten to know "the Chickens" but they aren't as much fun as they would be if I could really chase them. I've also spent a lot of time with the Headmaster walking around town - he says I need to learn to walk on a leash, but he doesn't seem to understand that dogs naturally go left and right and around in circles and stop every five feet and pee on everything that any other dog has ever peed on - ever - and sniff bird poop and roll in yucky stuff. He thinks I should "heel" and walk quickly and with purpose. I suppose that's okay when you are trying to get somewhere quickly but why would I want to get somewhere quickly.
It's 90 degrees with a heat index of 100 right now, so it's too hot to do much outside. We fed the chickens and came right back home to sit in the shade, but everyone is still panting like crazy and drinking water every five minutes.
Oh, I've also learned about treats. The Headmaster jeeps a jar at the shop - where the chickens live - and after we are done feeding the chickens and watering the plants we all get a biscuit thingie before we come home. Leia and I have the responsibility of reminding the Headmaster about the treats when he starts acting like it's time to leave. Leia doesn't always go with us though, so it probably going to be my job to make sure the treats don't get forgotten. The HM is a little flakey, you know.
