End of Week 1

Here is is the end of the first week of Fall term at the Academy and it hasn't been too bad - so far.  I've gotten to know "the Chickens" but they aren't as much fun as they would be if I could really chase them. I've also spent a lot of time with the Headmaster walking around town - he says I need to learn to walk on a leash, but he doesn't seem to understand that dogs naturally go left and right and around in circles and stop every five feet and pee on everything that any other dog has ever peed on - ever - and sniff bird poop and roll in yucky stuff.  He thinks I should "heel" and walk quickly and with purpose.  I suppose that's okay when you are trying to get somewhere quickly but why would I want to get somewhere quickly.

It's 90 degrees with a heat index of 100 right now, so it's too hot to do much outside. We fed the chickens and came right back home to sit in the shade, but everyone is still panting like crazy and drinking water every five minutes.

Oh, I've also learned about treats.  The Headmaster jeeps a jar at the shop - where the chickens live - and after we are done feeding the chickens and watering the plants we all get a biscuit thingie before we come home.  Leia and I have the responsibility of reminding the Headmaster about the treats when he starts acting like it's time to leave.  Leia doesn't always go with us though, so it probably going to be my job to make sure the treats don't get forgotten.  The HM is a little flakey, you know.

  1. Sounds like you're finding a role at boarding school for yourself already. I always knew you weren't one to fit in. Love you, pup. Dori would say hi, too, if she weren't busy sleeping on the air mattress following a full day of fetch and a walk to the ocean.
